Wendell Walker Foundation Reaches Out
The Wendell Walker Foundation is a collaborating ministry working with other entities to help educate, evangelize and build character among young people in various communities. Our program / project is now seeking a youth education grant that will help us engage young people in healthy life styles by holding workshops and educational programs. We are a ministry focusing on getting churches involved in ministry and education. That is, teaching principles of living according to Scripture, the importance of education, Christian based counseling, the responsibilities of the husband, the responsibilities of the wife, working with leadership in churches, schools/colleges etc., teaching how to’s in working with families in the community and much more.
This foundation’s ministry believes it is important to reach out and teach both youth and adults how to experience the abundant life God has provided for us.

Mrs. V. Annette Walker, is the Executive Director of the Wendell Walker Foundation, Inc. a 501 C (3) nonprofit organization and is the driving force behind all it’s activities. She is a mother of six children, one of which was Wendell R. Walker. Wendell was severely injured in a tragic automobile accident in 1995. Wendell was a minister and mentor to children and had dedicated his life to helping them. To keep his memory alive, Annette Walker created the Wendell Walker Foundation, Inc. in 1998. She has been instrumental in the creation of many programs for children such as, after school tutorimg, hosting a Youth Focus Group, and also Pastoral Family Counseling. She was employed with the Mendenhall Police Department as a Resource Officer, worked in the Mendenhall Elementary School and the Mendenhall Jr. High School as a mentor and protector of children. The duties are many and varied as she worked with troubled children as well as the parents and teachers.

A chosen vessel, called to do the will of the Lord. Wendell R. Walker attended Simpson Central Middle School, and was a member of the band. At that time music was a great interest to Wendell. After finishing middle school, he attended Mendenhall High School where his athletic abilities grew to be a success. College was his next step. Wendell attended Copiah Lincoln Junior College and continued to play basketball. After his first year at Co-Lin, Wendell accepted his calling to preach the Gospel. His cheerful smile and kind words illuminated lives, both young and old. Wendell decided to continue his education in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he attended college there until he was severely beaten and left lying in the street for dead. After returning home to recuperate, Wendell continued to impact lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This chapter of Wendell’s life came to a close June 17, 1995 when a tragic automobile accident claimed his life. During the time God allowed Wendell on this earth, many lives were touched by his caring spirit. -
Mrs. Joldersma was the first supporter of the Wendell Walker Foundation and a “life-enhancer.”
The Walker Family came to know Mrs. Genevieve Joldersma and the late Mr. James Joldersma in 1979 (picture not shown) when our home was destroyed by the flood. After introducing themselves, Mrs. Joldersma’s first question was “did you lose your bible?” after that our families grew more and close together. They made several trips from Michigan to Mississippi to visit and became God parents for the Walker family. The joldersma’s became Gramps and Grandma “J”.
Grandma “J” was a loyal supporter until her health failed her. She was truly a “life-enhancer,” one who reached out to enrich the lives of others, to lift them up and inspire them.
We will forever be grateful to the Joldersma Family who are still loyal to the foundation.
