My prayer today is …

“Lord let me be a pillow of strength to help hold up the foundation and not a thorn in its flesh to sap out its strength, or a burden on its back to weigh it down. Let me lift up its hands of operation without shackling them.”

Lord, make me a blessing today to weary children on life’s highway, with a loving word and kindly deed, an outreached hand in time of need. With lost children everywhere, thy living word help me to share. Make me a blessing today, that children might find their way. This is my prayer to Thee, O Christ, God’s risen Son, who gave His life for everyone.

President’s Message …

Let us keep in mind, there are children in rural areas that are not getting the education they need because many parents for one reason or another are unable to buy such things as books and supplies for their child’s grade level, or even pay tuition for a school term etc… If these needs are not met by the parent or some concerned organization, the “street gang” is awaiting the opportunity. It really does not have to be that way. It’s time to take the responsibility for our children’s future out of the hands of “street gangs” and put it where it belong, in the hands of people who care enough to give them the chance they so rightfully deserve.

We see and hear about the less fortunate every day, although very little is being done to help the situation. What will it take to open our eyes and see that our youth are destroying themselves? It’s all for the lack of knowledge and understanding. Hosea 4:6.

Now is a good time to say, “Lord, direct my eyes to see the need of the children, enhance my ears to hear the cry of the children, strengthen my arms to embrace the hurting children, guide my feet to find the wayward children and take my heart to love them all”.

The need is great and very real. Some of us are fortunate enough to love our children, give them what they need and want. Some of us are not so fortunate. Satan has caused the adversary to still, kill and destroy the family value that God intended to be in every family.

Your investment along with others like yourself will help make the difference in these children’s lives. We have put forth every effort in building a better perspective for our youth. We hope you will partner with us in making this effort even better.

Thank you for your support.

V. Annette Walker

The Wendell Walker Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, created to provide a permanent vehicle and structure for providing poor and low income children and youth increased educational and social opportunities. The foundation’s belief is that a comprehensive, systemic and long term effort must be made to address the problems of low self-esteem, juvenile violence, school dropouts, drugs, education attainment, dysfunctional behavior and declining moral values.

Many of our children are struggling with feelings of worthlessness, confusion, frustrations, sadness and anger. We strive to meet the needs of these young people by helping them to obtain a positive outlook on life and edify their moral conduct through education and evangelism.

For the development of rural communities to occur, it is imperative that the bonds of chronic poverty are alleviated through the well spring of “hope” in an accessible future.

Vision

The vision of the Wendell Walker Foundation is to be the organization that will open an avenue to provide 250 underprivileged children in grades K-12 the opportunity to receive monetary resources for tuition and other supplies necessary to enhance their understanding and desire to seek a higher education.
